Three months ago Luke watched a documentary about prostate cancer and was shocked to learn that 1 in 8 men in the UK alone will be diagnosed in their lifetime. Very sadly that statistic includes his late grandad, so as you can imagine this charity is one close to his heart.
Luke decided to tie up his laces and enter the Paris Marathon in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. Watching the program made him really realise the importance of raising awareness, to encourage men to get themselves checked and speak to their GP more freely, with the long-term goal to conquer cancer together.
6 years ago Luke was told he would never run again…but he pushed himself and trained hard to achieve high. Luke completed the Paris marathon in a fantastic time of 3hours and 48 minutes despite pulling his hamstring at 18 miles, he pulled through and got himself over that finish line with true Airborne grit and determination!
The Airborne Fit Team would like to say a MASSIVE congratulations to Luke for taking part in such a challenging event and fighting right until the end despite the unexpected knock back at 18 miles in. We would also like to thank every single one of you who have supported Luke throughout his training and donated to Prostate Cancer UK. The money raised is currently an astonishing £1350,00!!
It’s not too late to donate, any donations are greatly appreciated.
